Job Description: Associate Audio & Production Engineer
Job Type: Full Time

Reports to: Executive Director/CEO

Reports to: Project & Technical Director

Position Summary: The Associate Audio & Production Engineer works closely with and under the guidance of the Project & Technical Director. This role supports all audio and production needs for theatrical productions, concerts, education events, and rentals. Responsibilities include assisting with load-ins and load-outs, operating sound systems, and serving in technical capacities as assigned. As the Associate Engineer develops skills over time, they will increasingly take ownership of select production tasks and may lead certain projects independently.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Project & Technical Director and tech department to meet all audio and technical requirements.
  • Assist with the setup, design, and operation of sound for theatrical productions; act as Technical Director during performances as assigned.
  • Assist with sound setup, design, and operation for education events and dance recitals; serve in a technical leadership role when assigned.
  • Support sound setup, design, and operation for concerts.
  • Assist the Technical Director and tech department with technical requirements for concerts, including stage setup, equipment preparation, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform load-in and load-out duties for concerts and theatrical productions.
  • Maintain software updates on FOH equipment including the dLive S7000 console and Shure QLXD wireless systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of audio, signal flow, and mic’ing techniques for a range of musical and theatrical applications.
  • As skills and experience grow, take on select productions or technical projects independently, with ongoing support and mentorship from the Technical leadership team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Training & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in sound engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency in QLab, Mac OS, and basic software environments required.
  • Knowledge of video systems is a plus.
  • Experience operating an Ion XE lighting board is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable team player with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for the performing arts.

Experience:

  • Sound Engineering: 5 years (preferred)
  • QLab & Mac: 2 years (preferred)

Education: Associates degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience considered.

Schedule: Flexibility Needed
