Opportunity Overview

Reporting directly to the Lab Director, the FISH Technologist will work closely with other team members in performing all daily workflow activities in the Cytogenetics wet lab. The successful candidate will have hematology or oncology experience.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

• Perform Fluorescent In-Situ Hybridization (FISH) testing on blood and bone marrow samples
• Identify and resolve potential workflow issues
• Document all activities relative to QC and maintenance and calibration of instruments
• Identify potential problems to prevent erroneous test performance and results
• Document any corrective actions taken and escalate when necessary
• Inventory management
• Comply with all lab policies and quality guidelines
• Follow all lab procedures for specimen handling and processing
• Report and maintain patient result records

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related area
• Experience with Metasystems a plus
• ASCP certification preferred
