The primary goal of the project is the modernization, maintenance and development of an eCommerce platform for a big US-based retail company, serving millions of omnichannel customers each week.
Solutions are delivered by several Product Teams focused on different domains - Customer, Loyalty, Search and Browse, Data Integration, Cart.
Primary Responsibilities:
This role is focused on communication, technical leadership, and quality control, rather than hands-on development.
We are seeking an experienced Java Tech Lead / Architect who can:
Provide technical leadership to a segment of the development team
Guide and supervise the implementation of technical solutions across teams
Review and analyze the existing codebase (primarily Java, with some Kotlin)
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and the client to identify optimal solutions
Quickly adapt to the Customer's development processes and environment
Contribute to the enhancement of Personalized Search functionality
Ensure the solution is Cloud Ready and supports integration with Azure API Management (APIM) and Gateway
Workload Distribution:
20% – Architecture: system design, solution validation, and high-level oversight
30% – Technical Leadership: unblocking team members and solving implementation challenges
50% – Product Owner Support: acting as a “right hand” to assist with technical analysis and planning
Must have
Experience of work as a tech lead or architect at least 1 year is a must;
At least 5 years' work experience including enterprise backend system design experience;
Strong knowledge of Java; Kotlin is a plus
Familiar with Spring/SpringBoot;
Experience with Spring Cloud;
Deep understanding of enterprise application architecture patterns;
Experience with distributed systems;
Experience of work in distributed teams and leading a distributed team;
Good knowledge of SQL;
Experience with any public cloud provider and knowledge of cloud architecture patterns (Azure is a plus);
Familiar with microservice architecture patterns;
Familiar with Containers and Orchestration Systems (Kubernetes/PKS/OpenShift);
Experience with PostgreSQL;
Adoption of Agile and DevOps culture;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Experience of work with English-speaking customers (US customers is a plus);
Readiness to work until 8pm CET;
