Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient production at the Moab Potash processing facilities to include mill operations and mill maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works closely with the plant safety supervisor to maximize safety improvements and create a positive culture while influencing the staff on safety.

Plan, direct, and coordinate all operational activities of the potash production plant

Supervise up to 3 direct reports

Assist in production planning and building budgets, expense/capital

Direct the implementation of process improvements

Owner of engineering projects related to plant operations, and process engineering functions

Lead, train, supervise, and assist personnel in charge of operations

Analyze, evaluate, and resolve production related issues

Observes and enforces all safety rules and policies

Observes and enforces all environmental rules and policy

Owner of all capital projects for assigned area

Performs monthly and annual cost evaluations.

Generates weekly production reports

Collaboration with Mine superintendent and Solutions Mine Engineer to maximize production

Establish targets, goals and measurable metrics with direct reports

Work closely with maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime target utilization of availability

Ensure all products produced are to Intrepid’s specifications and quality specifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BS degree in Engineering or Sciences

Ten years of progressive experience in Mill Operations, Including Maintenance, with at least 5 years of management experience

Valid Drivers License

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Mineral Floatation, Screening of dry products, conveyors and associated equipment, Microsoft Programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Ellipse, PI Historian, OSHA/MSHA

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, and potentially work at heights, perceive color differences
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity

SCHEDULE

The position will work on a 9/80 schedule (Monday- Thursday, 7a-4:30p) and every other Friday (7a-3:30p) with occasional call outs and longer hours as the plant needs are met.
