Our lab is based in both the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Informatics at UCI. The work bridges together researchers across University of California campuses to study how social data from social media, wearable devices, and online technologies can be used to predict real-world events in areas like health and medicine, politics, crime, education, and finance. While our work is broadly focused, most of our day-to-day work is focused on health and medicine.
UCI's Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to advancing clinical care, education and research to help patients with diverse emergency conditions. We offer patient-centered care, apply cutting edge skills to combat serious illness and injury. In addition, our physicians conduct innovative research aimed at preventing injury and disease.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the SRA 2 will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of assigned research projects, community outreach, and writing science briefs. The candidate will assist in applying best practices in social media marketing to use technologies to recruit participants to studies and research websites, and to use technologies for dissemination and outreach with community partners. The candidate will work with lab staff and students to further the research goals of the Institute.
The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and detail oriented. Must have at least 2 years of experience working with technologies such as social media to run online advertisements and gain website traffic. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in current and emerging internet and social media platforms as well as analytics and understanding data related to how people use technologies.
To successfully address these tasks on time, the SRA must have a broad set of intelligence, be extremely diligent and task-oriented, and an efficient worker. Excellent writing skills required.

Required:

• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of social media platforms for recruitment and dissemination, including podcasting platforms and social media analytics platforms.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required.
• Ability to understand data analysis and data analytics.
• Experience using technology ads and cutting-edge methods to gain website visitors and social media followers.
• Experience working and communicating with sensitive populations, such as substance use and/or with HIV-infected populations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, podcast editing, artificial intelligence tools for marketing, spreadsheets, Wordpress, design software).
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with subjects, staff, and supervisors.
• Ability to communicate effectively about task deadlines and ability to complete on time.
• Skilled in keeping accurate and timely records and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, report to Principal Investigator on a regular basis and in a timely manner while managing competing demands / assignments / deadlines.
• Comfortable using personal social media and platforms to further research goals, including sharing research updates on personal social media accounts to increase dissemination.
• Ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
• Knowledge of Surveymonkey, Qualtrics, RED Cap, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, Google Analytics, Wordpress, Dashboard, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient writing skills to prepare/compose/review a variety of materials with accuracy and completeness.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
• Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to ensure confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information.
• Minimum two years of research experience carrying out behavioral interventions.

Preferred:

• Bilingual Spanish (read, write, and speak).
