Summary

This position is responsible for the instruction and development of children in order to meet their academic, spiritual, emotional, mental, social and physical needs. The Assistant Teacher must be willing to work in a Christian environment, work with the Lead teacher, provide a positive classroom atmosphere, comply with all rules set forth by the Tennessee State Department of Human Services. The Assistant Teacher will report to and is supervised by the Director. 

� Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 8:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
� 19.5 hours weekly
� Follows the Lakeland Community School Calendar

Duties

� Create an educational environment that encourages student learning and allows free choice play
� Teach daily lessons in Lead Teachers absence
� Prepare instructional materials for classroom geared toward students interests and abilities
� Create a scrapbook for each student
� Supervise and maintain safety of all students in the classroom and various places throughout the preschool at all times 
� Follow and implement guidance policy and behavior modification plans adopted by St Paul UMC Preschool
� Communicate daily with parents during pick up/drop off 
� Maintaining accurate and complete records and daily role keeping
� Performing other related duties as assigned or directed

Requirements

� High School Diploma or equivalent
� One year experience required 
� Must pass a background check
