Job Description

Expression is seeking an experienced AI Engineer specializing in Generative AI to support the continued growth of our Data Science Department. In this role, you will design and execute high-impact AI solutions for a wide range of customer applications. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly technical, collaborative environment and is adept at solving complex problems through independent research and innovation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deploy generative AI systems tailored to meet customer missions.
• Develop end-to-end AI solutions, including problem definition, data preparations, model development, performance evaluation, and deployment.
• Continuously optimize the performance of models and systems through iterative improvements.
• Collaborate with Program Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Architects, Product Designers, and Data Scientists to translate customer needs into scalable, mission-ready AI solutions.

• Conduct research and create prototypes to explore emerging AI technologies and innovative applications.
• Demonstrate excellence in Data Science and AI engineering, mentor juniors, and foster innovation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in building and deploying AI/ML models. 
• 1+ year of experience developing products or functional prototypes using LLMs and RAG technologies.
• Expertise in generative AI frameworks such as GAN, GPT, and LangChain.
• Advanced knowledge of prompt engineering techniques for generative models.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create design documents, technical reports, and presentations for varied audiences.

Preferred Experience:

• MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related discipline.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for ML workloads.
• Familiarity with tools and practices for data engineering and data management.
• Experience in short-release cycles and the full software lifecycle.
• Experience with Agile development methodology (Scrum).

Location:

• Hybrid in the DMV
  • Local (DC/VA/MD Metropolitan area)
  • Relocation assistance available for highly qualified candidates

• Top Secret Clearance Required
