Financial Accountant II (Non CPA) Location Austin, TX (Johnston Terrace area) : Job Summary::

The Financial Accountant II is responsible for the financial activities of assigned programs, the preparation of complex calculations and other projects as needed. Essential Functions::

  • Manage billing process for assigned programs to include but not limited to: reviewing billing from programs, preparing expenditure report, filing claims with funding source, drawing process, income/advance recording.
  • Manage financial and banking activities and cash analysis reports for Southwest Key Programs and its subsidiaries.
  • Review and approve all check requests submitted by assigned programs to verify the spending is within the approved budget before submitting to the accounts payable department.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Work with program and executive management on the annual budget process as well as update budget with any modifications that arise.
  • Become familiar with the funding source requirement on the financial aspects of the assigned programs to accurately prepare special reports for the funding source as needed.
  • Provide financial advice as needed to all assigned programs taking into consideration program model and program location.
  • Comply with company policies and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries as required.
  • Special projects and proposal development as needed.
  • Reconcile assigned bank account reconciliations monthly.
  • Perform financial statement review to ensure the accurate financial position of each program is reported to the program and executive management in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with direct supervisor on work status and customer issues that arise.
  • Researching and preparing complex, time sensitive calculations and non-routine accounting tasks.
  • Prepare any information requested by the funding source.
Other Functions::
  • Assist in the monitoring of quality control on the financial matters for the whole organization as well as assigned programs.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements::
  • One of the following:
  • 5 years of accounting and/or financial experience without a degree, or
  • Bachelor degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline with 3 years of accounting and/or financial experience, or
  • Master degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline with 1 years of accounting and/or financial experience.
  • Strong math skills; ability to analyze figures
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERP/Financial Systems
  • Must be organized, thorough, reliable and consistent
  • Ability to work independently with very limited supervision, as well as part of a team and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize work appropriately to meet deadlines
  • Ability to display patience and helpfulness, while handling sensitive and confidential information and situations.
Physical Demands::

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment::

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
